Who we are
“A future where every stage is a safe place for children and teens to create, perform, and thrive.”
ACT Safe was founded by former youth actors and their parents who celebrate the stage as a place to help young people grow and thrive. Our experiences in theater taught us valuable life skills that have borne fruit in every part of our lives: personally, professionally, and emotionally.
ACT Safe exists to uplift youth theater as a radically safe place where children and teens can step into their power.
We do this in two ways:
First, we uplift existing youth theater programs by partnering with them, learning from the great work they are doing, and offering research-backed training and professional development to ensure every young actor is safe in the spotlight.
Second, we work with community partners to bring theater programs to low-income, rural, indigenous, and traditionally underserved communities with a focus on building participants’ confidence by teaching practical skills that allow youth to stand up, speak out, and self-advocate. We believe these skills can create safer communities, both on and off the stage.
Donate or connect with us today to be part of the work to keep our kids safe in the spotlight.
