Who we are
“A future where every stage is a safe place for children and teens to create, perform, and thrive.”
ACT Safe (Advocating for Children in Theater) works to ensure that every stage is a place where children and teens can explore their passion for performance in safety and confidence. We advocate for clear and enforceable protections, provide education and resources to prevent grooming, harassment, and abuse, and equip theaters to foster environments where young artists are respected, supported, and able to thrive with confidence and creativity under the spotlight.
Our team’s story began decades ago on the stage of Venture Theater in Billings, Montana, where we first came together as young performers. In the years since, our lives have taken many different directions, but the friendships and love of theater we built in those early days have stayed with us. We’ve also seen, and in some cases experienced firsthand, how vulnerable young people can be in theater spaces without the right safeguards. Now, two decades later, we’ve reunited with a shared commitment: to protect and empower the next generation of performers by making every community theater a safe and supportive place to grow.
Donate or connect with us today to be part of our work to keep young performers safe.
